A 19-year-old driver lost control of a vehicle, resulting in the death of two people and four others with serious injuries. The accident took place on the New Jersey Turnpike in Harrison Township, Gloucester County. It occurred at about 1:06 a.m. in the northbound lanes near milepost 13.6.
State police state that the driver of an Acura MDX vehicle with five passengers lost control of the vehicle. That caused the car to veer off the road, down the embankment, and into a tree. The force involved led to four occupants being ejected. Two of those individuals lost their lives. The other two occupants sustained serious injuries, while another had moderate injuries.
Rescuers took all parties to the hospital. The accident was still being investigated at the time of the news release.
