A series of car collisions on Roosevelt Boulevard in North Philadelphia has resulted in one person losing their life and three others suffering injuries. The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Friday.
Police reported that two drivers got into a car crash on the northbound side of the roadway, near the Broad Street overpass. Those two cars were then struck by two other cars. Both drivers jumped over the concrete median to avoid being struck by the oncoming vehicles. However, even as they tried to get away by jumping into the southbound side area, the driver of a Toyota struck the two parties.
Of those drivers, one lost their life at the scene. The other was taken to the hospital in very poor condition. The other driver stayed at the scene of the accident and was said to be working with the police. On the northbound side of the accident, two other drivers were hurt but in stable condition.
Road Conditions and Car Accidents
It is not clear what caused this accident to take place, but investigators are looking at the road conditions involved. At this time of the year, roads are slick, and snow can make it even more challenging for cars to both see and stop. Weather can play a role in accidents, but the drivers causing the accident remain responsible.
