About 9:45 a.m. on a Friday, a dump truck traveling along Route 422 in Montgomery County struck a car. The incident took place between the Oaks and Trooper Road exits. Police are still investigating, but early reports indicate that the dump truck driver lost control of the vehicle in the westbound lanes. That caused the truck to go off the left side of the roadway.
The truck continued through the retaining guide wire barrier present and then into the oncoming lanes of traffic along 422 East. At that point, the truck slammed into a silver Ford sedan that was traveling in the Eastbound lanes. The truck overturned, spilling its cargo across the roadway.
The driver of the severely damaged sedan was taken to a nearby hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The victim was not expected to survive the accident. The truck driver had minor injuries.
Helicopters over the scene could see what looked to be sand spilled across the roadway and the deep mud trail in the grassy median from where the dump truck driver lost control. There is no word on what caused the dump truck driver to lose control of the vehicle.
How Families Move Beyond These Accidents
In cases like this, the victim’s family may wish to take legal action against the driver, the truck owner, and the company involved. Proving what happened is critical. Having a dump truck accident lawyer from Kwartler Manus on your side may prove to be a critical factor.
