A terrifying accident took place in Camden County. According to the police report, several good Samaritans came to the rescue of people who were trapped on a burning school bus. News reports indicate that a small school bus caught fire right before 8 a.m. in Berlin, New Jersey. The driver, an adult passenger, and a child were in the vehicle at the time.
As first responders were called to the scene, several people who witnessed what was happening took action to get the people off the bus. A tow truck driver deployed fire extinguishers before the firefighters arrived to put the fire out fully. Thanks to their good work, no one was reportedly hurt in the accident.
Finding the Cause of a Serious Accident
Police were investigating what took place, but said that the bus had just stopped at North Franklin and Maple avenues before the incident. That is when heavy smoke began to emerge from the engine bay and out the rear. Fluid was leaking from the vehicle, but there was no clear answer on whether the fluids caused the fire.
What Your Rights Are in a School Bus Accident
If you or your child is hurt on a school bus, seek legal guidance to recover damages. School buses that are not properly maintained or driven by untrained or unlicensed drivers put others at risk. With the help of a local attorney, you will get to the bottom of what happened.
