Woman Facing Murder Charges in Upper Darby

Upper Darby police say a woman is facing attempted murder charges after they say she drove her vehicle the wrong way on West Chester Pike with the intention of harming her boyfriend. Data indicates that the driver and boyfriend were in an argument on New Year’s Eve.

Police reported that the confrontation started while both parties were sitting in a vehicle in a local fast-food restaurant parking lot, arguing. The incident happened near the intersection of State Road and West Chester Pike.

That is when the boyfriend exited the car and started walking away. The driver then proceeded to drive over the sidewalk and hit the victim. The driver then fled the scene. According to reports, the driver had struck a parked tow truck before striking the man, which may have reduced the amount of force and minimized his injuries. The victim had cuts on their hands and road rash from the incident, but was able to stand and walk away.

At the time of the initial news release, police had identified the driver and recovered the car. They wanted the driver to turn themselves in. Area witnesses heard the incident take place and provided statements as witnesses to the police.
