Though the details are not fully understood, police report that a vehicle struck a police officer in Darby, PA, on a recent evening. According to reports, the accident took place on the 800 block of Main Street in Darby Borough at around 11:30 p.m. on a Sunday night. The officer suffered injuries but was expected to recover.

What Happens When a Driver Flees the Scene

In some situations, drivers who strike another car or pedestrian will fail to stop to help, which is a legal requirement in Pennsylvania whenever any type of accident occurs. Some flee because they are scared, while others may have additional risk factors, such as being intoxicated or driving without a license, that worry them.

In all situations, for the victim who was struck, this type of accident can be complex. In this situation, the victim was a police officer and the injuries were minor. That is not always what happens. Many times, victims of hit-and-run face significant injuries and losses.

If you are in a car accident in which the driver leaves the scene of the crime, always call the police. Then, contact our legal team. At Kwartler Manus, our car accident attorneys in Pennsylvania can provide you with the legal guidance you need.
