An incredible accident took place in Westville, New Jersey, on a Thursday evening at about 7:37 p.m. Police report that a car flipped onto its roof and landed on top of a set of railroad tracks along Gateway Boulevard near the intersection of West Olive Street. The person in the car was trapped, and it took some time for firefighters to rescue them.
The accident started when two vehicles crashed at the intersection. That caused one of the cars to overturn and land on the tracks due to the sheer force of the incident. Luckily, police were able to contact the railroad line quickly to pause any trains heading into the area. Then, rescuers worked to stabilize the vehicle before they could extract the driver. That driver was then taken to the hospital.
The railroad tracks are a component of the Vineland Secondary, a freight train line. There is no insight into the condition of the victims or why the initial collision took place.
