A head-on collision resulted in the death of one person, according to police a Pennsylvania State Police trooper. News reports indicate that a head-on collision involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer occurred at about 11:30 a.m.

The accident happened at the intersection of Mountain View Drive and Pheasant Run Road in Haycock Township. State police are investigating what took place and who is at fault. The roadway was closed from Old Bethlehem Road to Route 412.

Evidence Available in Truck Accidents

Federal trucking regulations include numerous stipulations for truck drivers and companies, placing significant responsibility on them to maintain safety. This is often an important starting point when investigating accidents. Data from truck maintenance logs, driver hours of service records, and cargo loading data can provide some insight into related causes. In addition, many of today’s trucks record what the driver was doing before the accident, or have dash-cam footage that can be reviewed.

It is not always possible to gather this information, but your attorney may push the insurance company to make it available when there is data that showcases who is at fault. Truck insurance companies are very stringent and will find every loophole they can to protect trucking companies from financial loss.
