A vehicle hit a home on Chelten Hills Drive. The home had recently been considered unsafe. Though it is unclear initially what happened, the damage to the home caused it to catch fire. The driver who struck the house fled the scene.
The incident happened in Cheltenham Township, PA. According to reports, the La Mott & Elkins Park Fire Companies were called to the scene of the accident just before 4 a.m. They found the vehicle had struck the house, causing both the vehicle and the front of the home to catch on fire. Firefighters were quick to dispatch and arrive, and put out the fire.
The records for the home indicated that it was declared unsafe due to a foundation problem. The home was boarded up after the accident to secure it. Crews posted an unsafe structure notice at the home. No injuries were reported in the accident.
Police are still investigating to determine who the driver was and what caused that driver to strike the building.
