75 Year Old Woman Killed in Crosswalk in Camden County

A devastating hit-and-run accident took place recently in Camden County. According to police, an older person and their dog were hit in a crosswalk. Both lost their life.

Police say that the accident took place in the area of Evesham Road and Alpha Avenue at about 6 p.m. on a Saturday evening. That is when a vehicle struck the two and fled the scene. Police say the driver initially fled the scene but returned to the area in a different vehicle after the incident.

What is particularly interesting about this case is that the victim had advocated for the installation of a crosswalk at that location for some time and was in the same crosswalk they helped have installed at the time of the accident. Neighbors in the area report that the area is very dangerous and that there are often speeders who fly through the area frequently.

Police charged the person with a second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident charge once they learned of the identity.
