The Rights of Pedestrians
It is very common for pedestrians to suffer serious injuries while walking along busy streets. The reasons are not often the pedestrian’s fault. Rather, they tend to result from drivers who fail to pay attention, try to run the light, or fail to look in crosswalks before making a turn. Distraction, intoxication, fatigue, and daydreaming are just some of the most common causes.
In these accidents, victims often suffer serious injuries and a lifetime of complications to health and quality of life. Catastrophic injuries, such as traumatic brain injuries causing cognitive function decline or spinal injuries resulting in paralysis, can make it harder for someone who is older to heal and get back to life.
