PA Turnpike Crash in Fort Washington Yesterday

Investigators report that a person was hit by a vehicle along the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Wednesday afternoon. Though few details are available, what was provided was that the incident took place just before 4 p.m. in Fort Washington. Emergency officials were called to the scene, where they found the incident in the westbound lanes of Route 309.

The crash closed down the westbound lanes for some time. The only details provided about the victim were that they were taken to the hospital by medical helicopter with serious injuries. Police are investigating what took place to cause the incident. Call a PA Turnpike car accident lawyer today.

Pedestrian Accidents Where They Should Not Be

The Pennsylvania Turnpike is not the type of area for pedestrians to be walking. Though we do not have any idea of what happened in this accident, it allows for an opportunity to clarify what happens when a driver strikes a pedestrian and that pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

In every situation, if the driver can stop or avoid the pedestrian, they should. There are situations where a pedestrian may run out into the roadway, giving the driver no ability to stop or swerve to avoid them. In an investigation, police will ultimately determine if the driver had the opportunity to stop and, if so, whether they were distracted at the time.
