How a Police Chase Led to a Bicyclist Suffering Injuries
According to news reports, the Philadelphia Police were chasing a silver Honda CR-V wanted for an earlier shooting in the 1600 block of Juniata Street using their lights and sirens. The vehicle fled onto the 1900 block of West Allegheny Avenue and while traveling east on the 700 block of Spring Garden Street, a police vehicle struck a bicyclist. This occurred because the vehicle being chased entered the bike lane. The police vehicle also struck another Honda CR-V.
The original vehicle being chased left the scene of the crash involving the police cruiser and the bicyclist, who is 68-years-old. All of this occurred around 3 pm Sunday afternoon. The bicyclist was taken to Jefferson Hospital for minor injuries and was listed in stable condition.
