Route 1 Car Fire Slows Traffic

A recent video reported by CBS News in Philadelphia showed just how terrifying a car fire can be. The incident involved a pickup truck that was located on the side of the road in Lower Merion Township in Pennsylvania. There was no initial information about the case of the accident, but helicopters were able to capture flames coming from under the truck as fire crews worked to put it out and control the scene.

The incident took place along Route 1 at around 7:30 a.m. on a Wednesday. Initial reports did not provide information about the condition of the pickup’s driver, though the driver’s side door looked to be open. Fire crews extinguished the flames, and the incident was under investigation.

Factors Contributing to a Truck Fire

Trucks like this can catch on fire for many reasons. Poor maintenance is one of the most common. Without enough oil in the engine, a fire can break out. Leaks from the fuel tank or electrical fires can also occur.

To determine fault in this type of accident, police must first determine the cause of the fire and then find out why it occurred. Poor maintenance is one example, while faulty equipment or manufacturing defects could be another. Various other factors may have contributed as well.
